Mega Torterra

-Upon entering battle, the move flower shield is used (the defense of all grass type pokemon is raised one stage. Similar to abilities like sand stream and snow warning.)

The design is meant to reflect how Torterra acts as a protector to other pokemon, much like how forests provide the benefits of shelter in nature. Defense is not only raised, but is amplified by its new ability. The idea would be that the fairy pokemon would be the ones to raise its defense (flower shield being one of the new fairy type moves), enforcing the idea of that harmonious relationship between Torterra and the pokemon that survive by living on it. The greens are more vibrant to show life, along with some other cosmetic changes. One can even venture to say that since mega evolutions are based on the strength of friendship, Torterra draws that strength from the symbiosis of other pokemon.

I would've added that the Torterra line can now learn the moves Wide Guard and Grassy Terrain from breeding, but the Pokemon Company is already ahead of me!

As far as being a contest entry, Turtwig was my starter in Diamond, the game I had when I was probably at the height of my immersion in pokemon (recently revived by Y). I always loved the whole line's design, and being based off the lore of the world turtle. Hope you like it!
